Bonne Nuit comes from the ancient love of Diego Baiardi, pianist, arranger and composer for all the music and songs of the folk tradition composed to take the children to sleep.
For years, the pianist dedicated to the research and adaptation of precious examples of this form of musical expression taken from the immense repertoire of lullabies from around the world.
The spirit and intimate jazz that permeates this work, as well as the interest in the dream dimension of our existence, suggested the involvement of another form of creative expression - the image - which, in tune with the music, accompany the listener / reader on this journey. It was an instinctive choice and almost obligatory.

The Music
Bonne Nuit comes from the ancient love of Diego Baiardi, pianist, arranger and composer for all the music and songs of the folk tradition composed to take the children to sleep.
For years, the pianist dedicated to the research and adaptation of precious examples of this form of musical expression taken from the immense repertoire of lullabies from around the world.
Following both a temporal and a geographic order, the project aims to provide a diverse representation of different lullabies, rediscovering the pleasure of listening with a new taste, melodies - some famous, others less well known - distant in time or in space.
The keys of customization choices and interpretation are those of a revision and adaptation in key jazz / acoustic, allowing items with different stamps - some more hot and thick, others crisper and angelic - to characterize and enhance individual tracks.
The music team is made up of two groups, one of which were predominately jazz and the other derived from ethno-acoustic, both well represented by leading names on the Italian scene: the musicians Paolo Fresu, Antonello Salis, Tullio de Piscopo. Stefano Bagnoli, Andrea Dulbecco ... the voices Petra Magoni. Patrizia Laquidara, Cristina Zavalloni.
Getting into the spirit of the project, from the first listen you realize that the original musical interpretations and decisions adopted reveal and confirm the extraordinary power of music (sounds, melodies and rhythms) and words, to bring children and adults from the world of reality (waking) to that of the dream (sleep). Going through the magic moment of slumber, where things start blurring even if we have not yet caught up, regardless of our will, unchallenged by the forces who administer our inner world. Not surprisingly this project is dedicated to '"adult-child" more than just child, which is the dreamer in all of us, whether parent or not.
The images
The spirit and intimate jazz that permeates this work, as well as the interest in the dream dimension of our existence, suggested the involvement of another form of creative expression - the image - which, in tune with the music, accompany the listener / reader on this journey. It was an instinctive choice and almost obligatory.
Indeed, who better than the visionary artistic production of Guido Crepax with his Valentina (inspired by, among other things, jazz to whom this great creator is deeply connected) could well represent and illuminate this journey with intense emotions and refined. Even the most remote corners of fairy tales and dreams do not have secrets to this author that, although almost unconsciously, it has strongly looted these worlds for his long career. Against the background of a hypothetical equivalence where the dream would be to sleep like jazz to the rest of the music, is so strong, harmonically, the combination of music and images. And the Valentina’s wonderful journeys, eyes open or closed, provide a representation of the intimate and delicate thin when you pass from reality, without shock or interruption narrative, to dream-state, source of new stories.
