VAL BONETTI is an acoustic guitarist and composer from Milan. Lullabies are so fascinating. They are short, simple, catchy and often hypnotic melodies. They passed down over centuries from generation to generation all over the world. Listening to each of these lullabies represented for VAL BONETTI a short journey into a distant culture. Each song taught him a lot and allowed him to discover traditional instruments and artists to whom he approached with great respect in the reworking melodies he made his own.
This record has been produced between October and December 2020 thanks to a fundraising, during the campaign part of the incomes went to support the Associazione Famiglie LGS Italia.

VAL BONETTI is a guitarist and composer from Milan. Some of his compositions gained prestigious awards in the acoustic guitar field (New Sounds Award at the Guitar Meeting in Sarzana and Best Arrangement at the Guitar Festival in San Benedetto Po, Italy).
In his career VAL BONETTI has been busking as well as performing anywhere from house-concerts to the main clubs and festivals dedicated to acoustic guitar in Italy and abroad (in 2016 on tour in Great Britain and Ireland), holding workshops dedicated to the guitar and carrying on an intense teaching activity.
He has refined his guitar style by exploiting the polyphonic and polyrhythmic potential thanks to the fingerstyle technique and the use of different open tunings. Among his references you can hear the guitar legends of the American root music as well as the British folk guitarists from the 60s and 70s acoustic wave and the more recent fingerstyle jazz guitar players.
A World of Lullabies is his fourth release, his first concept album inspired by traditional lullabies from around the world. Starting from essential melodies, discovered after careful research, Val intends to offer a different, not philological, point of view. Most of these tunes might be considered as new compositions, yet preserving these precious chants in their wombs, inspired by the imaginary voice of Mother Earth revealing itself in the last track of the album.
After an initial process of adaptation and composition on the guitar, artists from different backgrounds were involved. Almost all the tracks were recorded live and most of the duets have improvised sections. In just a few cases the lockdown and the distance did not allow the musicians work together in the same studio.
