The CD contains a studio recording done in 1978 in California by Andrea CENTAZZO and the ROVA SAXOPHONE QUARTET, originally released on Ictus Records. At the end of the 1970s a groups of four saxophone players, Rova Saxophone Quartet, appeared on the scene of improvised and jazz music, bringing with them a gush of fresh air in their unusual approach to themes, technical dexterity and daring choices of language contamination. In one of his many tour in USA CENTAZZO met them, rehearsed and recorded the material on this CD, with the help of Henry Kaiser. The music leaves of course a large space to improvisation but always within defined compositional structures to underline the soloist skills of the musicians organizing the sound situations into ensembles, trios, duets and solos. Among the other tracks here is presented the first version of Cjant, lately rearranged and recorded by Centazzo with large orchestra in 1983 and 1993. The theme is based an a popular motive of the Friuli tradition. The CD contains also two unissued compositions (the last two) which for lenghts problems were not included in the original Lp.
