In this concert recording violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam is back among his roots as a member of one of the most distinguished families in Indian music. He shares the stage with the next generation in the form of his son and pupil Ambi, also a talented violinist. The main piece is a full Carnatic performance of Ragam Mohanam, equivalent to the Hindustani Raga Bhopali. This includes a composition in tribute to Lord Ganesh, composed by Dr. L. Subramaniam. To end the recording Kavita Krishnamurti sings an invocatory song from the film Bhairavi, Om Namah Shiva. This song, composed by Laxmikant - Pyrelal, is also based in Raga Bhopali. (The second half of this concert featuring the Dr. L. Subramanian playing compositions with the London Symphony Orchestra will also be released by Navras).
