The SACATECA TRIO formed by Gigi Faggi, Marco Di Meo and Riccardo Marongiu, musicians who beside personal and intense individual concert activities, since more than fifteen years find pleasure and joy in performing together, in this atypical group whose sound is rooted in a jazz with ethnic and funk influences. Since its debut on August 22, 1997 at the Jazz Festival of Novilara (Pesaro), the group has started an intense concert activity. The repertoire consists of original songs (largely composed by guitarist Marco Di Meo) and covers of classics from different sources – songs, latin music – all reinterpreted with a jazzy flavour. The strength of SACATECA TRIO, is the interplay which gives ample room for imagination without bothering to respect the traditional structures. A kind of magic at a very high rate of improvisation created by the mutual confidence among the group members inspiring with an intense exchange of emotions and feelings with the audience.
The choice to use trumpet, guitar and percussion, which ideally occupy the three worlds that combine to create a musical composition (melody, harmony, rhythm), allows the players a great freedom of expression and movement.
