Debut record for ORCHESTRA SPARAGNINA, conducted by Ambrogio Sparagna, entitled Aska kalèddhamu (Arise my beautiful). A production that presentes young performers led by one of the most important artists of the new folk music, in Italy. A project linked to the recovery of the original repertoire of songs in griko of Salento. The ORCHESTRA SPARAGNINA was founded thanks to the teaching experience in the Comprehensive Institute of Corigliano d'Otranto, directed by Luigi Martano, dedicated to the recovery of griko, an ancient Greek dialect still used in some areas of Salento including Corigliano d'Otranto. It consists of about thirty young singers and musicians who, through the study started with the teachers of the school and with the help of Ambrogio Sparagna, proposes an original repertoire of traditional songs in Greek Salento. It is a repertoire whose texts were passed down orally through many local variations. These songs strike with the force with which love is sung in all its nuances.
