At the confluence of four regions of Northern Italy (Piedmont, Lombardy, Liguria, Emilia Romagna) in the Northern Apennines resonate the shimmering polyphony of canto fermo, the chant of Four Provinces, cousin of the famous Ligurian trallalero. This CD presents an overview of the existing main vocal groups and a series of solo pieces, perhaps the most intimate of the traditional repertoire of this region of Italy, sung and played by Daniele Scurati and Stefano Valla. "The canto fermo as the trallalero are not born to be exhibited in a showcase, but to be lived" emphasize the artisans of canto fermo. A short video documentary has been added to this CD to commemorate the best atmosphere in which all the work was conceived.
