"Essencia" the new album from Madredeus wants to celebrate twenty-five years of the Portuguese band's career, who introduced the new fado worldwide. The history of Madredeus began in 1985 thanks to Pedro Ayres Magalhães, former bassist of Herois do Mar, pop group, and Rodrigo Leão of Sétima Legião, which began to show the first experiments with two guitars. In 1986 they met Teresa Salgueiro, who at just 18 years dabbled in singing classic fado in a bar in the Bairro ! Alto nei ghborhood of Lisbon, and becomes the undisputed lead singer of the group.
