On the eve of the tenth anniversary of the group's activities UNAVANTALUNA - Cumpagnia di Musica Siciliana is back with a double CD, Isula Ranni, which marks the state of maturity of the Sicilian group.
Isula Ranni is a collection (double CD) of traditional and original pieces.
Ritta (right) is an anthology of traditional pieces which reinvent the Sicilian cultural imagery in a mosaic which never results taken for granted or imitative, through a virtuous game of cultural references between music and lyrics, between “sophisticated” and “popular”. Manca (left) is the result of the rich compositional imagination of UNAVANTALUNA; eleven original tracks rooted in the Sicilian musical culture, but which look at a broader dimension. UNAVANTALUNA recent victory of the Andrea Parodi Prize, dedicated to the World Music, confirms the effectiveness of their artistic career, which culminates in this new Cd, their third, Isula Ranni. The album contains Isuli, which has been awarded with 3 different prizes in the competition: best song, best lyrics and best arrangement.
Isuli, the winner at the Andrea Parodi Prize, tells us about a typical condition experienced by Sicilians, always feeling on the edge between leaving and coming back, between the mainland and the sea, between the possible and the possibilities. The intrinsic musicality of the language, its resonant poetry, is fascinating to the listener, beyond the real meaning of the words.
