Within the Motus Laevus project many elements coexist naturally: the sounds and languages of antique and modern instruments, both acoustic and electric; original compositions and traditional pieces, all in a melting pot where world music draws close to contemporary jazz; Slovenian songs and European culture blend with North African and Oriental dance; Eastern compositions from ancient times become mingled with Middle Eastern, Greek and Turkish scales. In this "Motus" (movement) everything evolves and transforms with each interpretation that the group makes.

Motus Laevus has many meanings and interpretations in Latin. Translated literally, it means "inverse movement", but it can also mean "anticlockwise" or "left-handed", also in the positive sense that Latin people attribute to the Orient.
Everything and the contrary of everything, underlining the fact that words, like music, contain within them multiple directions and forms in time and space; a world without boundaries.

The letter Y of the title is a coordinate, a variable, and in many cultures it is the letter that represents a rite, an initiation, the graphic for man, a symbol of elevation into the heavens; a metaphor with thousands of meanings.

Tina Omerzo, Slovenian pianist, singer and composer, was introduced to the study of classical and experimental and contemporary music as a child. Subsequently, she devoted herself to improvisation and composition, both strongly influenced by ethnic music, especially that of Eastern Europe and the Middle East very present in the culture of her origin. She is the musical author of three albums in her name with Mojca Maljevac, author of texts and poems. She is part of the HIC Orchestra (Hidden Improvise Consort) and other Free Jazz ensembles.
Edmondo Romano, polyphilist and composer, has been working for 35 years in experimental, folk, world, minimalist, soundtrack musical research, perfecting the use of the many instruments he plays in the interpretation of different cultures and expressions. He has taken part in more than 140 recordings and collaborated on numerous cinematographic and theatrical soundtracks, composed music for readings and music for dance. He performed endless concerts around the world.
Luca Falomi, guitarist, composer and arranger. His musical journey started with classical music, then lead him into jazz through Brazilian, Afro-Cuban and Middle Eastern music. At ease with acoustic, electric and ethnic instruments, he has published and produced two albums in his name and participated in many record productions including jazz, world music, experimental music and songwriting, collaborating with great artists of Italian and international music .
