DEM Trio, places the roots of its musical preferences within the Anatolian Traditional Music Culture, and sails to unknown harbors with the winds of improvisation. Besides, DEM’s music is carrying a desire of putting forward an idea for “a specific polyphony based on Anatolian makam structures” that can be acquired through an ensemble of traditional instruments. The recordings on the new CD of the Trio witness a part of the Anatolian geography based journey of the Trio routing towards the dance repertoire of Anatolian land this time that can be traced back to ancient times

A new important Felmay’s release by DEM Trio. Formed by Derya Türkan (Istanbul kemençe), Murat Salim Tokaç (tanbur, ney) and Cenk Güray (divan sazı, cura, tanbura, abdal sazı), DEM Trio places the roots of its musical preferences within the Anatolian Traditional Music Culture, and sails to unknown harbors with the winds of improvisation. Besides, DEM’s music is carrying a desire of putting forward an idea for a specific polyphony based on Anatolian makam structures that can be acquired through an ensemble of traditional instruments. The recordings on the new CD witness a part of the Anatolian geography based journey of DEM Trio routing towards the dance repertoire of Anatolian land this time that can be traced back to ancient times. The repertoire of this CD includes the performances of DEM Trio on various dance tunes including halay, sirto and zeybek dances. The melodic dreams created on these tunes are reflected by the addition of a unique harmonic accompaniment in accordance with makam music theory and gives way to substantive improvisations on these specific themes.
