Felmay Records glad to present Daniele Cavallanti A World of Sound new release: A Wall of Sound. The band founded by Daniele Cavallanti in 2013, after the replacement, in 2015, of the second tenor sax Gianluca Elia, who in the meantime moved to Copenaghen, today includes, in addition to the leader on tenor sax, Francesco Chiapperini on alto sax and bass clarinet, Gianluca Alberti on double bass and Toni Boselli on drums. The sound of the album has its roots in the effervescent mood of African-American music of the 60s, revised with the sensitivity of contemporary jazz

A wall of Sound is the Daniele Cavallanti A World of Sound 's third album following the World of Sound Quartet (2014) and Shadows (2019). The repertoire includes two original compositions by DANIELE CAVALLANTI: S.O.S. dedicated to John Surman, Mike Osborne and Alan Skidmore, and Downtown Braxtown dedicated to Anthony Braxton. The album also contains two songs from Wayne Shorter’s classic period: Armageddon and Charcoal Blues, both taken from Shorter Night Dreamer’s album (Blue Note, 1964) and Ornette Coleman’s Street Woman from Science Fiction (1972) and an arrangement of Carla Bley’s wonderful Jesus Maria (discovered thanks to the delicate version of the Jimmy Giuffre Trio included in Fusion, 1961).
