Born in the famous griots\' village of Kela, she became the forerunner of a new generation of female artists that has been featured in Mali\'s music scene since the 1970s. Siramori\'s voice is characterized by its hoarseness which made it so famous and recognizable. This CD contains traditional praise songs (‘fasaw’) and ‘evergreens’ of more recent origin. Recorded by Jan Jansen in January and February 1989 and by John W. Johnson in August 1974. Liner notes by Jan Jansen. 66+ min., 20-page booklet.
