The populous centers of Puglia once were characterized by grand musical ensembles, small dance orchestras and fervent instumental schools composed principally of craftsmen. These artisans, musically literate, adapted the antique serenade (matënètë) in fascinating suites of dance music. The disc presents tarantelle, quadriglie, scotinë,valzer, polke, mazurka, beghine, tanghi, and slow taken from rituals of the serenade still in use. Recording from 1979 to 1992.
