Four years after the successful Omi e Paiz (1996) TRE MARTELLI presents their new recording. Continuing the researches in the heritage of their homeland region, Piedmont and in particular the areas of Monferrato and Langhe, rich and productive areas on the eastern borders of the region. The group confirms to be one of the best on the Italian roots music scene.
The good technical level of the band affording the traditional repertoire is the base for the wonderful voice of Ciacio Marchelli that pushes the entire ensemble in very enthusiasm performances.
Car der Steili has a freshness and strength that only comes from the strong ties with the local community preserving sounds and colors still live and contemporary. At the same time the group has done very deep philological researches on the musical material of the recording. Most of the tracks come from scores or recordings of the beginning of last century. TRE MARTELLI give new life and blood to compositions often dusty and forgotten, with full arrangements that evoke fin de siècle atmospheres.
Polkas and monferrinas alternate to anonymous traditional tunes and original compositions by the members of the band, influenced by folk and classical music. The osmoses between cultivated and folk culture has often given good results, Car der Steili, is another example of this fruitful relation.
