Three names, three different styles, one concert.
Early 2003 Kieran Goss, Frances Black and her band and David Munnelly and his friends toured the Netherlands for almost a month. One of these concerts has been recorded and now over one hour of music has been included in this dvd video. Three of the finest artists of Ireland on one dvd is a special treat.
Kieran Goss
Kieran Goss is not only one of the top songwriters in Ireland, he is also one of the best selling artists in his country. Born and raised in Mayobridge, County Down, he has recorded five solo albums, the latest of which, ‘Out of My Head... The Best of Kieran Goss’ (2002) is a retrospective of his songwriting career to date. Kieran’s previous two albums, ‘Red Letter Day’ (2000) and ‘Worse Than Pride’ (1998) were huge chart successes in Ireland, both achieving double platinum status. In 1998, Irish Music Magazine voted Kieran “Best Contemporary Artist”.
Kieran’s love of performing his music live has taken him around the world (Europe, the U.S., Japan, Australia) prompting rave reviews as he goes... Between his touring commitments, Kieran continues to write and record material at his home studio on the west coast of Ireland.
Frances Black
Frances enjoyed many incarnations in her career, from her early days singing with her brothers and sister Mary in The Black Family, to her role as lead vocalist with Arcady in the late 80’s, her hugely successful collaboration with Kieran Goss, and her solo career, one which has continued to flourish over the past decade. Frances’ involvement in the phenomenally successful A Woman’s Heart further expanded the boundaries of her career. Her solo career continues to flourish. Frances released her fifth album How High The Moon in the fall of 2003.
David Munnelly
David Munnelly is an acclaimed twentyfive year old Mayo master of the accordion, affectionately known as the new “Bullet from Belmullet”. He has been playing music since he was seven years old. He credits both sets of grandparents with having had a huge influence on him and from them he got his love of music and lore and his unique style. In the last four years he has toured and performed with some of the finest musicians, including The Chieftains, Sharon Shannon, Niamh Parsons, De Danann, Richie Buckley, Gerry O’Connor, Christy O’Leary, Martin Murray, Gary O’Brian, Arty McGlynn and many more and also recorded with many of the above. In 2001 he released his first album, has toured in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, UK, and played some selected concerts and festivals around Ireland since. His second album By Heck is released in 2004 on Music & Words’ Fréa label.
The dvd Irish Unplugged features all three artists with their own sets.
The bonustrack is performed by all the artists together. Each individual artist’s concert can be played seperately and there is a biography and discography added. The direct play system enables the dvd to be played
