Ajò is a typical and very effective expression of the Sardinian people. It invites one to take off and leave, to go on a trip. The CD continues the musical journey that ENZO FAVATA started with his previous recording, Islà (Newtone Records Nt 6737). A journey that mixes the jazz roots of the composer with hit Sardinian roots. A music in balance between the colors, the flavors and the melodies of the Mediterranean sound with the feeling and the emotional strength of the Afro-American tradition. The band of the recording, exclusively acoustic, beside the FAVATA's usual companions: Marcello PEGHIN, 10 strings acoustic guitar, Federico SANESI, tabla and percussion, Salvatore MALTANA, double bass, has a very special member Dino SALUZZI with his bandoneon. The project was born having in mind since the beginning the presence of Dino SALUZZI, a choice based on his great musical skills and deep sense of feeling. For these reason today SALUZZI is the Argentinean better known and appreciated in the world. This recording is not a casual meeting of musicians but instead an artistic project born on the common sense of the music of the artists. The music in AJÒ, in balance on the nostalgia, on the memories of the roots, of the motherland, pervaded of the sense of departure, of the migration, present and past, is the fruit of this meeting. « As I wrote the music for this project, I did a lot of thinking about the stories, these faces, these eternal rambling spirits, these two wind-swept lands so far, yet so close, where religion and family still have a deep value. I tried to reconstruct a pathway through these memories, that would somehow resemble that strange way of speaking old emigrants have.» (Enzo FAVATA )
