This record collects a selection of tracks from the 2006 edition of La Notte della Taranta (The Night of Taranta). The repertoire is mostly comprised by songs coming from the heart of the oral tradition of Salento, elaborated and arranged by Ambrogio Sparagna specifically for the occasion. There are many threads recurring in this concert: first the presence of many work songs, a sort of homage to first 100 years of the greatest italian trade union; second, the love songs, which stand at the core of Salento's musical tradition. A brilliant record, embellished by many prestigious guests, such as Lucio Dalla, Lucilla Galeazzi and the pop-rock phenomenon Carmen Consoli.
