It is the most densely populated region of Italy, that which moves the economy of the country, with an “european” life style...nevertheless the world of Italian folk music still has a point of reference in this region, a new chapter of the Tribù Italiche series. The Lombrad scene is stirred by rock, dance and hip hop, but also by ethnojazz, combat folk, work songs and many thnigs more. Dance is at the centre of many selections of this compilation: the Sonadur di Ponte Caffaro give their own version of carnival dances, polka is revived by the typical Bergamo's dance called baghét, presented here by Bandalpina, while Alessandria dances are performed by Quattro Province, the ensemble guided by Stefano Valla and Daniele Scurati. Bu there are more “borderline” dances, such as the acid-electro tracks by flute player Stefano Faravelli together with Roberto Aglieri, by the Lamp e Tròn project of Marco Domenichetti or as the deep basses of Dissi Lògoi. The Cd features as well some brilliant voices: that full of history of Sandra Boninelli, researcher and singer, the Pavia polyphonies of the Voci di Confine, and those between popular folk tale and protest song of the Giorni Cantati. There is also place for a South American feeling with the tireless Cremona producer Fabio Turchetti and with the Tangatamanu project, which is a visual and acoustic reproduction of a shipwreck. Closing the CD, an unreleased version of ”The International” by the legendary Milanese band area.
