After a three years sabbatical, Davide Van De Sfroos is back with “Pica!”, which in laghée dialect means “Hit!”, the cry of the miners of Frontale (a small village in Valtellina). There are fifteen new songs in this record, twelve sung in dialect and the other three in Italian, but te chorus is in langhée dialect. His voice, the words of the dialect, which posses a peculiar musicality, quite similar to that of the English language, always strike even the casual listener. Davide plays popular music, true, heartfelt. His songs talk about the everyday life of ordinary people, but with a humorous twist which is really his trademark. Sure “Pica!” is his best record to date. The usual mixture of country, rock, bluegrass, create a unique background for his deep, witty lyrics. A great comeback!
