10 years have passed since Filippo Gambetta’s debut album. Recorded at the end 1999, Stria gave start to a promising artistic path that the many following recognitions, even international, would have confirmed step by step. Technical skill and a particular musical taste have led Filippo Gambetta to be one of the best Italian diatonic accordion players.

If Pria Goaea (2002) had specified the talent in a multi perspectives dimension it is now the time of Andirivieni to characterize a phase of thematic and composing ripeness. Without denying the European tradition of the musical instrument in which he so far was soaked, Filippo Gambetta works here on more outstrechted grounds, whose extent guarantees smooth contemplation.
This is the case of tracks such as Kevat, Pippi and MisterO (composed and arranged by Riccardo Barbera). But also Runaway Lane or Lattuga turbolenta, these more accelerated pieces, still maintain a happy self-possession that move them away from certain juvenile urgencies. Gigi is a sharp ballad of sure radio catch, mellowed by the guitarist Claudio De Angeli voice and structured on the basis of a reel. Appropriate south American hints tip toe in Fica mal com Deus, by Geraldo Vandré, while it’s the gipsy jumpy swing of Mariù, recorded in a duo with the father and guitarist Beppe, to delightfully close a composition that would arouse admiration among those calling for appeal and deep meaning from music.
Among his collaborators, we already mentioned Barbera (bass) and De Angeli, stand out Michel balatti (flute), Antonio Esperti (bass clarinet) and Mario Arcari (oboe). Filippo Gambetta, who has always been committed in blending diatonic accordion in different musical contexts, has developed a personal technique on a three line instrument, studying and taking inspiration from many sources (the Ligurian tradition, the rhythmic and harmonic Balkan modules, the French music, the classic-contemporary sounds).
It is worth mentioning that in Andirivieni Gambetta expresses his musical curiosity and vivacity playing clarinet, percussions and mandolin.
