Patsy Reid is an experienced teacher and performer of both traditional and classical music. She remains the youngest ever winner of the prestigious Glenfiddich Fiddle Championship, was a finalist in the BBC Young Traditional Musicians and is now a member of the band Breabach. Bridging The Gap was commissioned as part of the Celtic Connections New Voices series and received such glowing reviews. The 50-minute piece comprises nine original melodies on one of the seven modern modes of music (Ionian, Dorion, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolidian, Aeolian and Locrian) and seamlessly bridges the gap between folk and classical music.
