Folk singer Patsy Seddon has put together a tribute to Scottish singer-songwriter Davy Steele on the 10th Anniversary of his death in 2001. She invited some of Davy’s favourite singers and musicians into the studio to record 16 of his 37 songs, to be followed up with a concert at the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow in 2011. Patsy has collected all of his songs for a songbook. Davy was well-known for his work with Drinker’s Drouth, Ceolbeg, Clan Alba, Urbn Ri, Caledon and Battlefield Band. An ex-Army man and social worker, Davy had a strong social conscience and a passion for music. Topics of his songs include army life, work, working men’s rights, family, love, politics and social change. Some reflect his early Soul influence, most are either in country ballad or traditional ballad form. A feast for lovers of Scottish ballads.
