Sunflower Quartet’s new album, “Frattale”, is the result of an intense and scrupulous research activity, recently developed through different collaborations with the most important Sardinian jazz realities. The title of this album is “Frattale”. A repertoire of unpublished songs, written and arranged by all the group members, with the voice of Francesca Corrias. Songs in Italian, English and Portuguese that move from swing to samba, jazz, electronics, bossa nova, creating new atmospheres, zippy or intimate and gentle, as in “Na minha casa”, “Epiphany” or melancholy as “Angelica”. An excellent jazz album in which the sounds of Mediterranean and Latin-American cultures coexist.


After many record productions and long-standing relationships with some of the most important artists at regional and international level, S’ardmusic in cooperation with Jazz in Sardegna, has started producing new works by interesting Sardinian young jazz musicians such us Sunflower Quartet: Francesca Corrias (voice and flute), Sandro Mura (piano), Filippo Mindula (double bass) and Pierpaolo Frailis (drums). Sunflower Quartet’s new album, “Frattale”, is the result of an intense and scrupulous research activity, recently developed through different collaborations with the most important Sardinian jazz realities. The Sunflower Quartet emerges from those contexts, grown in the last ten years through jazz seminars directed by Paolo Fresu, assiduous participation at jazz festivals in Sardinia and, in the last four years, at the European Jazz Expo.
