LOU SERIOL were born in 1992, to rediscover and preserve Occitan music. During the first years of life, the band has a strictly acoustic line-up (barrel organ, galubet, voice) but plays traditional songs with a spirit of innovation. Repertoire is taken from Occitan heritage and is used in his purest formula: popular one. A year passes and the band starts to adopt not so traditional instruments (bass guitar and congas). Here starts a path of experiments that leads to the birth of Lou Seriol trademark sound that will consolidate more and more in the following years. In 1993, with this line of work, the first, rare, demo si recorded in legendary “Vivenza” studio. The will arise to write songs in Occitan language that use sounds and rythms of musical styles young band members like (raggae, rock, folk, punk, ska). In 1995 drums and guitar are added to the line-up. This change defines Lou Seriol sound. The band starts to work on traditional songs arrangements and their own compositions. At that time the boys understood that live concert was the road to follow, travelling kilometers to let people know their music, living new experiences and exchange of ideas.
In 1999 after a time concentrating on live shows, the band entered studio following a new road: self production of the new album (a choice they followed with all further albums).
In 2003 planning for a new album began. In 2004 studio work started with a seventh “Seriol”, artistic producer and friend Riccardo Parravicini. In 2005 “Reviori” is released, the album features important collaborations: Papet J, voice and founding member of Massilia Sound System, Luigi Pastorelli, voice and founding member of Nice band Nux Vomica, Sergio Berardo and Dino Tron of Lou Dalfin and Maestro Fabrizio Simondi of “L'Escabot” choir.
In 2009 the band decided to produce a live album: Ambe Vos. The album containing some of the band most famous songs an some previously unreleased tracks and on additional DVD feature the visuals for the two concerts, some historical bonuses and a video documentary on 2007 concert at Anem' Oc event for occitan language in Bezier attended by more than 20.000.
In 2011 the band enters Riccardo Parravicini “Modulo” studio to give life to new album “Maquina Enfernala”, once again produced by the band. All the writing process was elaborated in studio during pre-production, where the tracks found their shape, to arrive to production final stages. The goal is to use tradition to build modern sound. Reggae, Hip Hop, Pop, Rock are the new roads that traditional instruments and sounds take.
