Original compositions that mix Mediterranean and Middle Eastern sounds. A journey through the odd times of oriental culture intertwined with fado, rebetiko, waltzes, contemporary jazz and prog-rock. “It sounds to me almost like a futuristic collaboration between David Lindley of Kaleidoscope and Victor Bailey of the late version of Weather Report. I like it! Very well played”. (Stein Urheim)
Radical Raptors is the debut album by a duo unique in its organic, electric bass and bouzouki, of Mediterranean fusion/world music.
The duo presents original compositions mixing Mediterranean and Middle Eastern sounds with jazz, progressive-rock and funk. Songs like Salamaleikum, Turkish Waltz and Abebe Bikila move between the odd rhythms of oriental cultures. Voice of the Eagle and Plettenberg Bay intertwine Portuguese fado and rebetiko while House for Sale, Saturday the 13th and Raptor Stomp have influences from contemporary jazz and prog-rock. The songs were recorded live without overdubs to preserve the freshness of live performances.
