Jean-François Dutertre, an undisputed 'master of old ballads and complaints', founding member of the band 'Melusine', presents fifteen pieces from collections gathered in Normandy, highlighting the abundant and interesting traditional repertoire of the various sub-regions of Normandy ('pays'). This rich and diverse land was once one of the main centers of emigration to Canada, where you can sometimes find its old melodies. Round dances, ballads, fishermen songs… Jean-François Dutertre accompanies himself on the hurdy-gurdy—which was very common throughout Normandy until the thirties—and on the diatonic spinet. Accordion, violin and guitar back up his voice and that of his guests from Mélusine. The booklet features the lyrics and their translation.
