If there´s such thing as world music, this is it! On its fourth studio album, Terrakota keeps on mashing up frontiers to bring together music and people from around the world. With the help of some surprising special guests, the ambassadors of Portuguese multiculturalism keep on expanding their musical horizons, to Rajasthan, Angola, classical India, urban Cuba, and beyond. In "World Massala",Terrakota have used a broad palette of colours to paint a world without borders. Traditional instruments like balafon, n’goni, sitar, mbira, oud and sabar meet bass, drum and electric guitars to create an unheard cosmopolitan fusion where respect for ancient musical traditions embrace the 21st century. Whether it’s mbalax, funana, samba, reggae, Afro-Cuba, gnawa, afrobeat, desert blues, batuque, flamenco, maracatu, rap or chimurenga, Terrakota intermingles it with ease in its world massala. Add spectacular dancing by the gorgeous Angolan singer Romi Anauel, and you have one of the most explosive live bands of today’s world music scene. In this new album Terrakota welcomes a very special group of guests from all around the world. "In the single ‘World Massala’, the band is joined by the gypsy musicians of Rajasthan Roots, the carnatic singers Mahesh Vinyakram and Bollywood-star Vasundhara Das. The afrobeat "Slow food" Terrakota is accompanied by a few members from the portuguese funk group Cool Hipnoise. In "Gripe económica" it´s the cuban rapper Kumar who joins the band. And in "Raíz", Terrakota welcomes the singer-songwriter Paulo Flores, the brightest star of today’s avant-garde in Angola. With each album Terrakota has made an impressive progress and with this new album the band will surely reach and trespass new musical horizons. Again: this is world music.
